With an MSc in Healthcare Ethics and Law from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and a degree in Theology, Marianne has worked as a hospital chaplain for the past 20 years, dealing with death and dying every day.
“Most of my work is in the mortuary, helping families deal with the immediate aftermath of sudden death: RTA, suicide or murder,” she says. “I find this work very challenging but rewarding”.
“I also journey with people through diagnosis and prognosis, and help families come to terms with the impending death of their loved ones. I love spiritual healing and often treat patients in the hospital.”
Marianne has also started a ‘Care for Carers’ programme in the hospital in which she works: “Many of my colleagues involved in different healing modalities give of their time and expertise to provide healing sessions to support the hospital staff in their great work. I am hoping that some of the staff will, in time, train as healers,” she says.
In addition to her work as a tutor for the Healing Trust, Marianne is also a motivational speaker.
